Yesenia De Jesus, LCSW, PHC-C
My name is Yesenia De Jesus (Ella, She). I speak English and Spanish fluently. Over the last decade of studying psychology and social work, I developed an intense passion for advocating for marginalized communities. I am a certified trauma counselor, working with survivors of physical and sexual violence. I am a certified perinatal mental health professional; I support clients as they navigate the life-altering transition that is parenthood. I am trained in trauma-focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and interpersonal therapy. I am an affiliated member of the Perinatal Mental Health Alliance for People of Color and La Alianza en Español.
I am passionate about working with adolescents and adults, especially those who identify with the BIPOC and LGBTQIA2S+ communities. I respect each client’s ability to share their experiences that are inclusive of their cultural beliefs, customs, and traditions with special attention to trauma-sensitive language and non-verbal communication styles.
Specialty areas include:

My Philosophy
I love to help clients identify obstacles to achieving their goals. I believe in the power of educating each client to learn more about themselves via the use of life skills, to assist them through difficult situations. I utilize an array of appropriate evidence-based therapeutic strategies to meet the unique needs of each client. I work together with the client to create, implement, and evaluate their goals throughout the therapeutic journey. My therapy style is direct, psychoeducational, and collaborative.
