Nicole Lamar, LICSW, M.Ed.
Hello, my name is Nicole Lamar and I’m a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) and also have a Masters in Education. I specialize in the adoption process from start to finish, clinical social work, educational consulting, and couples counseling. Due to my own experiences with adoption, I understand the emotional stress, excitement, and complex steps involved in navigating the process. We will walk through each step together.
Utilizing my background in education, I also specialize in working with kids who have been diagnosed with ASD and ADHD. In addition, I provide consultation services to parents/caregivers to assist with navigating the educational and clinical needs of parenting kids with ASD and ADHD. I see both diagnoses as superpowers!
I received my Masters in Social Work (MSW) in 2004 and spent some time working in agencies before deciding to obtain my Masters in Education. I have been an elementary school teacher for the past 20 years and also see clients via the private practice setting. During this time, I have utilized my training and life experiences to assist individuals and families through various dilemmas including loss, trauma, and grief work. My passion lies in helping individuals and families navigate the tedious process of both life, education, and adoption. I have worked for the past eight years in the non-profit sector as an advocate for adoptive parents. I provide a compassionate and thoughtful approach to navigating the entire process. I will also be available post-adoption to assist you and your child with any clinical needs, education, training, and resources to assist in making the transition as smooth as possible. I am excited to share my love and respect for the adoption process with you as you embark on this life-changing journey.
The structure of our sessions can be flexible based on where you are in your adoption process. I am happy to provide 30 or 60-minute sessions based on your current needs.
